Deep Cut

Deep Cut, a four projection installation, is an equal collaboration between Sam Digges Hunter and Xiaowei Wu. It is based on the theoretical and historical entanglements of the railroad and American cinema. The windows of early train models frame a composite of idealized American landscapes in painting and cinema. The scenery adapts a narrative structure alongside a spoken monologue where obsessive impulses are transposed into a lust for land and unstoppable technological progress.
